Dear Colleague:

Many of my professional colleagues believe that a child's intensity is a problem that needs to be treated with medications and made to go away. I've developed an approach that puts parents, teachers, counselors and therapists into the driver's seat and gives them the perspective and strategies to shift children into using their intensity in beautiful ways.

Many children wind up marginalized and/or on medications simply because there has not been an approach that consistently helps them to use their intensity successfully. Some 75% of all children evaluated for conditions such as ADHD and Oppositional Defiance Disorder receive medication on the very first visit. The unfortunate underlying message is: your teacher can't control you, your parent can't control you, and you can't control yourself... you need a substance to control you. Parents and teachers end up feeling inadequate and blamed as well.

Ordinary methods of parenting and teaching typically backfire with intense children. Despite the best of intentions, the more adults attempt normal responses, the worse the situation can inadvertently become.

The culprits are the methods most people have at their disposal... not the parents, teacher or the child. Approaches designed for the average child are not powerful or encompassing enough to have a transformative effect on children with behaviors involving opposition, defiance or inability to manage strong impulses or emotions.

The Nurtured Heart Approach has been proven to create a transformation in a challenging child very quickly and in an enduring way. Instead of the child experiencing that one gets a great deal more from adults through negativity, the child is moved to experiencing deep relationship when engaged in positive and successful uses of energy.

Over the past few years the advanced training has continued to evolve and sculpt the growing edges of The Nurtured Heart Approach. It is always enormously gratifying to participants to be involved in exploring the expansive realms of manifesting the greatness of others as well as manifesting our own greatness. TRAINING OVERVIEW:

Learn the process of Transforming the Difficult Child with the creator and developer of The Nurtured Heart Approach™. Our Five-Day Intensive Advanced Training is the very best way to integrate the depth and scope of this approach in its entirety in a short period of time.

The Five-Day Advanced Training is for those treatment professionals and educators who wish to master the techniques of The Nurtured Heart Approach™. Participants will receive full certification in the use of the approach in all venues of TREATMENT, CONSULTATION and EDUCATION - in applications for school communities, for parent training and coaching and for use in leading workshops and seminars. This workshop will result in full authorization and certification for the professional use of the Nurtured Heart Approach™, and it is this training is the only officially sanctioned certification and authorization to use the Nurtured Heart Approach™.

It is required that all participants have either previously attended a one-day training and/or have read the book and have at least experimented with this approach in their personal or professional lives. This will allow us to work at a level of depth that will meet the needs of all attending.

The training will be limited to an appropriate number of participants and will be personally led by Howard Glasser, the developer of the approach, along with along with his incredibly gifted co-author of the Transforming the Difficult Child Workbook, LISA BRAVO. This collaboration will allow for in-depth training, participation and dialogue.

We are now taking applications for the Five-Day Training to be held in Tucson from Sunday evening, January 23rd, through Friday, January 28th, 2011. The training begins with a reception dinner on Sunday, January 23rd which is hosted by the training team and a perfect opportunity to network and meet the other participants.

Early registration is highly recommended for the 2011 Advanced Training as this event typically fills completely before the end of the year.

This schedule will vary as the whole process will be geared to deepening the conceptual understanding and the practical applications of the approach. Since all participants come to this training with the basics and a desire to dive deeper into the process, following the energy of where we need to go to accomplish that goal will be the order of the day and the schedule will be shifted accordingly

• 8:30 AM - 5 PM - Discussion, video, therapeutic and educational scenarios in light of the deeper underlying aspects of the intentions of Nurtured Heart Approach.

Day 3: PHASE III:

• 8:30 AM - 5 PM - Discussion, video, therapeutic and educational scenarios in light of the deeper underlying aspects of transformation in relation to the Nurtured Heart Approach.

Day 4: PHASE IV:
Here's What We Are Fighting For: Fearlessness

• 8:30 AM - 5 PM - Discussion, video, therapeutic and educational scenarios in light of the deeper underlying aspects of fearlessness in relation to the Nurtured Heart Approach.

Day 5: PHASE V:
Here's What We Are Fighting For: The Healing

• 8:30 AM - 5 PM - Discussion, video, therapeutic and educational scenarios in light of the deeper underlying aspects of "healing" in relation to the Nurtured Heart Approach.

 This training is comprehensive and will cover in-depth and will introduce all new developments and cutting edge aspects of the Nurtured Heart Approach. Typically there are one or more demonstration sessions conducted by Howard Glasser with real clients as well as numerous experiential emersion periods throughout the week.
